ABOUT THE LIVER TRANSPLANT HOSPITAL

Expert, coordinated care throughout transplantation

The Liver Transplant Hospital was built on a 3,210 m² site and has a total enclosed area of 20,500 m². The six-storey building stands southeast of the main Turgut Ozal Medical Center building and is connected to it by two enclosed passageways. Evaluation, surgery, intensive care and post-transplant follow-up are delivered in one center.

OUR STORY

The development of our transplant program

Inonu University’s liver transplant program at Turgut Ozal Medical Center began in 2002. The first living-donor liver transplant was performed in September 2005. Between 2008 and 2016, the program ranked among the leading centers in Türkiye and Europe. Founded in 2011, the Liver Transplant Institute was the first institute of its kind in the world and began providing liver-transplant education to physicians from many countries.

Outpatient Clinics

Outpatient Clinics

Five outpatient clinics provide preoperative preparation and periodic postoperative follow-up. Transplant surgeons, gastroenterologists, pediatric gastroenterologists and infectious-disease specialists work together in patient care.

The hospital has 12 operating rooms and a meeting room, equipped with modern devices and technology.

Intensive Care Units

Intensive Care Units

Three intensive care units provide a total of 36 beds. Designed for tertiary and advanced care, the units are arranged as single-patient rooms.

Inpatient Wards

Inpatient Wards

Seven inpatient wards provide 116 beds. Each patient has a single room averaging 30 m², with a nurse-call system, telephone, television, refrigerator, bathroom, storage and a companion bed.

Radiology and ERCP

Radiology and ERCP

Dedicated interventional radiology and gastroenterology/ERCP units perform radiologic and endoscopic procedures. These services are available whenever patients need them.

Laboratories and Classrooms

Laboratories and Classrooms

Two research laboratories support immunology and hepatology studies. Two 100-seat classrooms and three 10-seat meeting rooms are used for education, research and council meetings.
